Transforming data into knowledge

The past eight months have been a roller coaster. Just like many companies in the industry, we had to rethink our strategy, knowing that increasing exposures and continuous volatility should become opportunities instead of challenges.

Where do you start?

For over a decade, we have been providing commodity trading and processing businesses with the necessary transparency in their organization, hence the name ‘Tradesparent’. However, talking with our clients, our partners, and our colleagues, we recognized that providing transparency is just a small part of what we do.

To move forward, we decided to take a step back.

With the guidance and structured approach of the highly skilled strategy professionals Ralph Wisbrun and Trudelies van der Poel, we were able to engage in an open conversation with the entire team to redefine our purpose and our vision.

We went at a quick pace but did not miss a single step. Redefining your positioning means talking to all stakeholders in- and outside the company. Gathering feedback, focusing on both strengths and weaknesses, and most importantly achieving common objectives.

It was at that point that our first client explained the reason behind naming our technology ‘Radar’ within their own company: “Before Tradesparent, we were flying in the dark. Now, we know exactly how to zoom in on relevant business targets and successfully use our data to manage exposures and boost performance.

We can conclude that in 2023, powerful data, risk & margin management is available for everyone. However, as every company is unique, the approach cannot always be the same. We notice that companies are either at the beginning or in the midst of their digital journey. Some succeed at finally gathering all their data but getting a simple position report out is often still a challenge. Let alone advanced risk reporting.

Today, it is our mission to bring business and technology together by turning data into knowledge. No matter where you are as a company, our technology is built to fit within any data & analytics landscape. Thanks to Ralph and Trudelies, we were able to successfully convey this message with our strategic rebranding project.

It's May 18th, 2023, and I am looking back on what we have accomplished as a team in the past eight months:

  • The successful launch of RadarRadar with a strong positioning & business proposition.
  • New clients in both the Food & Agri and the Energy industry.
  • Many new talented employees globally.
  • New and accelerated product offering.
  • Two awards: ‘Technology Innovation’ and ‘Data Analytics Leader of the Year’.
A more detailed piece on that to be shared soon!

My personal lesson? You cannot successfully move forward without a solid foundation. Don’t be afraid to take a few steps back.

Luckily, we have a radar to help you navigate.

Transforming data into knowledge

To increase business value, the proper use of data is critical. Becoming a data-driven company requires governance, collaboration and sharing. Getting an understanding of which business challenges need to be addressed and how, provides for the right strategy to gather the right data, but more importantly to turn that data into trusted, real-time knowledge.
